We're getting to the very end of the pre-baby checklist, and WOW is does that feel good. This weekend was freakishly productive, even for me, which was helpful. And no, it wasn't "nesting", it was simple pig-headedness. I have been fresh out of "nesting" energy for weeks now; there is only my normal stubborn determination to get things done keeping me going at this point. Yesterday alone I went to Target, made and froze large batches of chili, pizza burgers, and taco meat, put all the wall decorations up in LB's room (with the assistance of T), put together a bookshelf, took apart a (different) bookshelf for the trash, and re-arranged the back half of the living room to make room for the baby swing. I'm getting tired again just listing that all out.
Tonight a very generous friend of T's from work is driving down to the city to take us to Babies R Us to pick up our glider, which just came in, and haul it up to our third floor apartment for us. I offered to buy dinner for him in payment and he countered with an offer to buy dinner for US instead. Tim is my new favorite person.
Later this week I have a rapid-fire series of appointments (doctor, lawyer, dentist, other doctor, ultrasound), T and I have an infant CPR class on Saturday, and...that's about it. We'll be as ready as we can be.
Right now I have seventeen days until my due date. I was born 16 days before my due date. That suddenly makes this all seem quite possible and real and SOON. My parents get here in 23 days. I really hope I have the baby before they get here. I don't want them to "waste" vacation days sitting around staring at an overly pregnant me instead of snuggling their first grand-baby. But there is nothing I can do to make the baby come faster or slower, so I'm trying not to fret about it too much. LB will come when he is good and ready, I know.
