You know when a conversation or comment reminds you of a bit of a book or movie or show or song, and then you spend the next 2,384 hours trying to figure out what book/movie/show/song that is that you remembered a piece of, and it slowly drives you insane until three days later at two in the morning it FINALLY comes to you, and then you can sleep again? I need your help.
I read a book sometime long, long ago. Possibly for school? Or maybe just when I was still in school? It has to be at least 10 years old I'd guess, but it could be a hundred years old; I have no idea.
This is what I remember. There was a rich old lady who was bedridden. She hated her caretaker for some reason (I believe the caretaker was the main character of the book?), and whenever the caretaker lady was vacuuming downstairs, that is when the old lady would poop the bed for maximum mess. At some point the caretaker figured this out and would turn the vacuum on downstairs and wait outside the old lady's room until she had, uh, passed the point of no return on her poop-mission, and then go in with the bedpan and ruin the old lady's messy plans. Eventually the old lady figures out the trick and won't poop unless she hears the vacuum making the back-and-forth noise (vs the sound of it just running sitting in one place), and the caretaker has to get someone else (the maid?) to vacuum to trick the old lady again.
I seriously CANNOT stop thinking about this book, and it is driving me batty. I remember NOTHING of the book other than the poop-vacuum thing, which probably says wonders about me but WHATEVER. Please help me?
