Boo!
Halloween weekend was a lot of fun. Saturday morning T and I drove down to Kankakee and carved pumpkins at my mother-in-law's house.

Later in the afternoon we got dressed up to go over to my grandparent-in-laws' house to hang with the family and hand out candy to trick-or-treaters. T's entire family lives within about a mile of each other, except for my brother-in-law and his girlfriend (in Bloomington) and T and I (in Chicago), so when we go to Kankakee we generally get to see the whole gang. My costume was a serious hit, by which I mean I got swatted by both my mother-in-law and grandmother-in-law because I kept walking up behind them and just staring at them, seriously creeping them out. It was SO MUCH FUN.
T was a wizard, and handed out most of the candy while I was busy harassing her family.
I picked the zombie/undead doctor thing mostly because I needed a costume that went well with the lurching/limping walk I still have going on with my stylish boot, as my foot issues are still ongoing. Last Friday Dr. E gave me a cortisone shot in my heel, which was substantially more unpleasant than I expected it to be. Almost a full three days later and I still feel like I'm walking on a bruise whenever I let my heel touch the ground, which is almost never. I realized yesterday that I've unconsciously gone back to walking toe-heel instead of heel-toe (or in the case of my left foot, just on my toes), which is probably one of those things I should mention to Dr. E., but which falls out of my head the moment I walk into her office. This is why I used to make lists and spreadsheets (and sometimes even graphs) of symptoms for Dr S. or Dr C. If I'm not feeling something right at the second you ask me about it, I'm hard pressed to remember what it feels like or how often I've felt it at all. It is amazing the degree to which I can remain out-of-touch with my body.
At least the foot-issues mean I have a perfect excuse to sit on the couch and read even more than usual. Bonus points for the fact that Dr E., in addition to the casts/shot-in-the-foot, provides me with some great book recommendations. This weekend I read one she rec'd, a vampire romance novel, Dark Lover, the first in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series, and it was awesome. I started it on Friday, finished it on Saturday. Now I just have to be patient enough for the next one to come through inter-library-loan. Patience in waiting for books I want has not been one of my strong suits.
